This year was an outstanding year for Redwood. There was a walk off against El Diamante, and a season sweep against rival school Mt. Whitney. They were 18-10 overall, and 8-2 in League. They took the #1 spot in WYL and won the title. Unfortunately, the team didn’t go to Valley, and lost against Frontier in the first round, 4-0. Now let’s look at the team leaders this year.
The three team leaders for homeruns were Rico Aguirre, Bronson Chamberlain, and Hunter Bryan, each with two homeruns. Keep in mind that I didn’t go to all of their games, so the stats weren’t that impressive. (I scored 12 games total) The team leader for batting average was Bronson Chamberlain, with 38 official at bats, and an average of .500. The team leader for runs scored was Hunter Bryan, with 12.
The thing that made the season so great, but shockingly underwhelming, was the fact that they did so well throughout the year, but unfortunately, they met the better team in the first round in #8 Frontier, and ended up losing, on Wednesday, the 8th, 2019.
A notable game happened on March 25, 2019. That day, Kaden Sorensen was on the mound for the Rangers. He threw a one-hitter and the Rangers would go on to blow Tulare Union out of the water, 10-0.
Another notable game was on April 5, 2019. Ethan Garcia was on the hill for Redwood. He allowed 5 hits, and struck out 6. Redwood wound up dismantling Golden West, 16-3, the final. This happened on 13 hits, 16 runs, and 1 error. Redwood had three homers on that day, which came from three guys who go by the names of Bronson Chamberlain, Sam Bower, and Rico Aguirre.
A funny moment in one game occured on April 24, 2019. This was when a swarm of bees came flying in, which caused the whole first base dugout, us, to evacuate from the dugout for a short time. I still believe to this day that those bees cursed us, because the Rangers would fall short, 5-4.
Overall, the Rangers had a standout season with the only negative being their 4-0 first round loss against Frontier. Hopefully, the Rangers will get back, and possibly win a Valley title.
