Redwood High School’s just had their 15th year of Home Tour. This fundraiser is known to be the biggest one the school band has ever had this year and the students and staff have been preparing since summer to put this fundraiser together. This event is to help the band students raise enough money to have new instruments, go on trips, and for the kids to have money in their band accounts.
The Home Tour is an event where students perform at volunteered houses that are decorated very festively. All of the students in band participate either in the role of performing or hosting at each house. It is a very fun way to experience the holidays while also supporting the band.
Tickets for the event were 20 dollars and were mainly sold by students. This gives the students the opportunity to promote the band through means of fundraising.
The band students and their parent’s people joined in to help donate their homes to help Redwood band raise more money. They had less homes this year but band is still going strong and raising the money they need.
Preston Kearnan, ’22, is a student in band doing his second home tour, says “Every few band sections go into different homes to perform the songs we’ve been learning since summer.” Preston then explained how this fundraiser will help expand band and it would also help to add more fun and exciting things in to their routine.
During the tour everyone listens to the band play while snacks are provided and everyone toured the houses that have been decorated.
Band students parents and people around town were kind enough to open their homes for the students to perform in and to raise money to help support Redwood band. They were also able to use Quail Park for their big fundraiser so they have more space to work with.
