Before the day of Cowhide, people predicted who they think was going to win. Will Redwood win the hide back, or will Mt. Whitney keep it for another year?

As the days go by, people get more and more excited for game day where the football team from Redwood and Mt. Whitney face off to win the Cowhide.

As the day of Cowhide gets closer will Redwood students believe in our football team and say they’ll win, or will they side with Mt. Whitney?

Aidan Archer, ‘28, has high hopes for his first Cowhide. He believes in Redwood’s team this year and said, “I think Redwood’s going to win because we have a pretty good football team.”

Giada Morrelli, ‘26, said, “I think so since it’s the final game and if they try and give it a shot I think that will happen.” She added, “I feel like if they do put in the good work, they will be rewarded with that win.”

Rio Serpa, ‘27, said he thought we were going to win since, “I feel like we can be good when we try.”

For the most part, the students of Redwood think this is the year Redwood will win the Cowhide back from Mt. Whitney. They believe in our team and think we have good football players.

On the other hand, some people may not agree that Redwood will win.

Jeremiah Avila, ‘25, said that we were losing the game this year since the other team has a “prodigy.” His exact words were, “Like, against a prodigy, we ain’t worth nothing.” He doesn’t believe in our football team this year.

After the game against El Diamante, these individuals were re-interviewed to see if their opinions changed since Redwood’s Varsity Football team won with a score of 42-14.

Archer said he had more faith in our team since, “We blew El Diamante so I think we have a great chance of beating Cowhide.” He added, “I think it should be a pretty good close game because our team has struggled a bit in the past, but I think Redwood will pull out in the end.”

Morrelli said she also had more faith since, “They’re improving and that shows they’re making progress.” She also said that she thought it was gonna be a close game since, “I think that it’s gonna be kind of a challenge and maybe they’re both really going to be competitive.”

It’s possible that the game could be an easy win for either Redwood or Mt. Whitney. On the other hand though it could be tough since both teams are determined to win for their school.

Serpa on the other hand isn’t too sure. He said he believes in our team a little more and his reasoning was, “Because we beat them by a lot.” But he still wasn’t sure about who would win the game in the end.

Avila said he had a little more faith in our football team but his opinion stayed the same. He said, “I still stand on my opinion. Mt. Whitney got a good little football player. They got something going on.”

Avila believes the “prodigy” that Mt. Whitney has on their football team will make a big difference in the outcome of the game.

Avila added, “Because one day you can play one good team then the next day you play one bad team. It doesn’t mean you’re better now. It’s just that team wasn’t as good as the other team.”

Avila was proven wrong when on Friday, November 1st, Redwood won the Cowhide back with a decisive 28-7 victory.

Redwood has officially brought the Cowhide home.
