Redwood football (2-2) is set to take on the undefeated (4-0) Hanford Bullpups in what will be the toughest test the Rangers have seen all season. Friday night’s matchup is one that is sure to challenge the Rangers and really push them to their limits.
Redwood running back Alex Perch ‘24 says that his team has had a tough week of preparation ahead of Friday night’s major matchup.
”We’ve been going hard and I think we are ready.”
Ranger fullback Ty Potts ‘23 feels that his team is coming into Friday night’s matchup feeling confident in their preparation.
“We have a lot of confidence in our preparation, but definitely know how dangerous they are as a squad. We’re ready to execute our game plan and see who can make fewer mistakes.”
Potts continues by saying in order for the Rangers to beat Hanford they’ll have to play tough football.
‘“In order to beat them, we’re going to have to execute and play hard-nosed ball.
”Last season the Rangers recorded a huge 24-21 win against the Bullpups and they’re looking to make it two straight this year. If Redwood can fight hard and pull out a win against Hanford for the second straight year that would be huge for the program.
Redwood quarterback Frankie “Francisco” Alvarez ‘23 has seen back-to-back strong games against Tulare Western and Tulare Union.
Alvarez says that he feels his confidence is starting to show on the field.
“The confidence has always been there since the first game. The only difference is that I felt like I had to redeem myself after the first two games.”
Redwood wide receiver Moses Burk ‘24 feels that the strength of competition gives the Rangers an advantage on Friday night.
“I think we got Hanford this week. The first 2 games against Centennial and Clovis North were both close games only losing by a point against Clovis and a touchdown against Centennial. We have shown that we are a good team and it’s gonna show against Hanford.”
