With the new school year starting, as you look around, you may notice Airpods in many students’ ears. What could they be listening to? What are their reasons for having their AirPods in? Redwood students share the music that they’re currently listening to.

Music has always been a source of entertainment for people. Reasons for listening to music can vary from student to student. Some may simply listen to music to help them get through the school day.
Either they have a playlist that they listen to throughout the day or they just choose songs that they like to listen to.
Edgar Duran doesn’t have a playlist specifically for school, but he has other playlists and songs that he listens to throughout the school day.
When asked what songs help him get through the school day he said, “I’d say ‘Feel Good Inc’, ‘Birds Don’t Sing’, and ‘There for You’”.
With music comes the music genre. Everyone listens to different genres of music. But, they might prefer one genre over another, like Sophia Ramirez.
Her favorite artist is Taylor Swift and says “her genre is pop.” She prefers pop over other genres she listens to.
Instead of liking one genre over another, Irene Cuevas likes many different genres of music. She says, “I think I have a versatile taste.” Some music genres she listens to are reggaetón, rap, and country.
Mr. Woodbury, who teaches Biology and AP Biology is another person who has many different genres that they like. But his favorite genre varies on the way he feels.
He says “It depends what mood I’m in. Like, if I’m having a rough day I’ll listen to heavy metal, and if I want to concentrate and crank out some grading, I’ll listen to video game music.”
Music is a big part of everyone’s life. You never would’ve expected the big impact music artists and different music genres can make on someone’s life. Many students rely a lot on music to help them get through the school day.
