Redwood started the year off with the classic Blue Out, and now that the new Rangers know how to show off their school spirit.

Eli Archuleta ’28, said that he enjoys the energy that comes with the dress up themes. Archuleta said, “I think they help the crowd show off their creativity like, support the team [and] going all out.”

Archuleta showed off his school spirit for the Blue Out game by painting himself blue, and writing “RHS” on his chest, with a pair of sunglasses. Archuleta said he, “painted myself all green with alien sweatpants, with alien sunglasses with alien antennas.”

When asked what theme he looks forward to, Archuleta said he anticipates the Blackout game.

On August 28th Redwood varsity football plays against Kingsburg in the mineral king bowl.

Archuleta isn’t the only one who likes school spirit. Pasha Cruz ‘28, also appreciates the dress up themes. Cruz said “Dress up days, get the audience like, hyped up and excited for the game.”

When asked what her favorite theme has been so far, Cruz said she really enjoyed the Space Ranger theme. “For the alien game, I painted myself green and was an alien.” When discussing what theme she wants to see in the future, Cruz said, “Chickens.”

Sawyer Starbuck ‘28, who attended the Blue Out game said he thinks the overall energy changes when students dress according to the theme. Starbuck said that the theme does “really affect the crowd’s energy and, just more reasons for people to show up.”

Starbuck shared that he has only been able to attend the Blue Out game, but still showed off his Ranger Pride. He said that he, “cut the sleeves off of a superfan shirt and then cropped it.”

Starbuck said he’s looking forward to the White Out game on September 4th, which he plans to attend.
