On August 18th, 2023, the Ranger Football team had a tough loss to the Centennial Golden Hawks with a score of 35-13. However, the Rangers are heading into the first home game with their heads held high. This game is different for them because the Redwood student section will be there and have their backs and cheer them on. Some players are here to give their thoughts on the upcoming game this Friday, August 25th, 2023, where they take on the Clovis North Broncos. The Broncos won their first game with a score of 62-8.

Cristian Carlos ’25, an offensive tackle for the Rangers says, “I feel like it’s going to be a tough game since they are a Clovis school but I still believe if we play our hardest we can win.” Carlos will be making his Varsity home game debut, when asked about it, he says, “I’m feeling excited as I will be able to hear all the noise from the crowd and the band, also seeing my family watch me is great.”

The Rangers plan to give it their best on Friday. Wide Reciever, Moses Burk ’24, says “We plan on just playing hard and giving it our best out on the field.” Burk is questionable going into Friday’s game with an injury. He is confident in the team and hopes to return to the field as soon as possible.

The Clovis North Broncos’ biggest threat on offense is their run game by a landslide. In the win against San Joaquin Memorial, they were able to stack up 459 rushing yards in one game. The Rangers look to stop this run game and disrupt the passing game on offense. Key players to watch on the Defense are, Alec Harold ’24, who had a total of 7 tackles in the last game, Isaiah Galaviz ’24 who had 6 tackles, and Dallas Harris ’24 who had 6 tackles and 3 defended passes.

Defensive Back, Thomas Plummer ’25 also has his head held high for the upcoming game. Plummer says he’s, “feeling good going into this game and that if we play disciplined and hold the run game, we can take home this win.” Plummer says that the team has practiced tackling more to make adjustments from the last game. Plummer was also on the punt team where he secured a clutch tackle in the game against Centennial. This will also be Plummer’s home game debut. He says, “I am feeling good, I am excited to go out there to work for my school, my team, myself, and my family. I am going to have a great time and make sure we take home this dub.”
