Redwood’s big night was due heavily to Jimmie Burk’s, ‘26, huge contributions running the football. Burk produced 123 yards, 2 touchdowns, on 14 rushing attempts. Burk has recorded back to back games where hes rushed for over 100 yards.

Burk says, “It’s been crazy getting back to back 100 yard games. Getting back to back games was a big accomplishment and I got all those yards cause of my fullback, my offensive line, and the receivers blocking for me.”

When discussing his team’s success Burk says, “Once we began league all of us clicked all on the same page and we have been rolling ever since.”

Redwood finds themselves just two games away from finishing undefeated in league for the second straight year.

Quarterback, Luke Sanchez ’26, says,  “I think we played really good, our defense has been doing their job and setting the tone. The offense is getting better every week and starting to come together as a team. I am excited for the future of this team.”

The quarterback position is one that comes with a lot of learning, especially early on in the season. Sanchez says that he feels he’s getting the hang of the starting role now.

Sanchez says, “I am getting more comfortable as the game goes on. I still get a little nervous, but nerves are good. I think what’s helped me be more comfortable is getting more and more experience.”

Defensive end, Kai Preisendorf ‘24, says,  “I think the defense had a great game Friday, and a great year all together. The defensive line performance was great as well but it’s been as so the whole year. Redwood has always just had a great defensive line.”

Linebacker, Xavier Perez ‘24, says, “I think that we were able to do what we did against Monache because our week of preparation and practice was on point and we knew we had to have a statement game to show us what we are capable of. I think that the best thing that came from this past game was both of our quarterbacks’ confidence. They were very confident with themselves and sitting in the pocket and throwing good balls to our play makers.”
