On February 13th, the Rangers would play their home opener with a lot on their minds, including how to win this game. They were fresh off an 8-1 loss to a very strong Clovis North on Tuesday.

Redwood went into the game with a great 1st inning, as they shut out the Grizzlies, and got to work in the bottom of the first, racking up three hits in three runs.

The scoring streak started when Lee Trevino hit a sac fly into Center, which brought home Diego Alvarado. 1-0 Redwood.

After this, Dakota Brown was able to bring himself into home making it 2-0.

Ryan Rios brought home Ramirez after he picks up a single, which made it 3-0. After that, the Grizzlies put up a 4 run second to take the lead, 4-3 Central.

The Rangers would tack on one more, courtesy of Lee Trevino and Dakota Brown, which made it 4-4.

“I was just trying to do a job to score, and help our team win”

The Rangers later gave up 7 runs in the last inning and they couldn’t respond.

Coach Hydash pointed out the fact that although they did give back their early three run lead in the second, they are a “really young team this year”

This loss puts Redwood at 0-2, but there isn’t time to worry, because Redwood still has plenty more games coming up, so be prepared, as their next game is on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Clovis at 11:00 am.

“We’re gonna have to scratch and claw for every win this year. Nothing’s gonna be easy, and we’ve got a very tough schedule to start the year”
