Redwood’s musical The Wizard of Oz, just finished performing their last show ending it on a very high note. Everyone apart of the musical is proud of their hard work and performance, but what can audiences expect to see from Redwood’s talented students next?

Jessica Peters ‘21, was a part of Redwood’s yearly musical and believes “The show went amazingly well…everyone worked so hard.” The hard work paid off because of how much audiences loved the show. It was lots of fun for her and everyone else involved, she “100%, plan on doing doing next years musical.” Peters is excited for what comes after the yearly musical, “I always look forward to VHSPAS”.

Although the musical was a success, there were many challenges to be overcome by everyone onstage and backstage. Hope Storseth ’21, enjoyed the musical and “Couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to do this with.” Storseth admits to struggles such as “Sicknesses that went rampant around the cast” and “So many days were very long.” In order to perfect the musical, Storseth and many others involved know that obstacles happen but she knows “I would for sure do the musical again.”

Not only were Redwood’s audiences impressed with the musical; Mrs. Galvan, Redwood’s drama teacher and director believes “That it was one of the smoothes productions that we have ever had.” Galvan admits to difficulties such as “Backstage drama…technical difficulties…” But believes that students work through these issues by “Being amazing at everything they do.”

Now that Redwood’s big musical is over, there are still many things to look forward to from Redwood’s drama department. Galvan and many student actors are looking forward to upcoming events such as “The one acts, where people in drama classes have a performance at the end of the year.” Other upcoming events is “Space Princess Wars, an outdoor performance…and the VHSPAS Awards.”

Redwood’s The Wizard of Oz was a huge success caused by many people involved onstage and backstage. Many student actors look forward to performing in the musical and the many events that are upcoming. Keep updated with latest performances from Redwood’s student actors and if you have any questions about Redwood drama please ask Mrs. Galvan in room 15!
