In an exciting game, #6 seed, Redwood Girls Soccer advances in the Central Section Division 1 playoffs after defeating #11 Arroyo Grande 3-2 Wednesday night.

Kelsey Konishi, ‘21, and Payton Basso, ‘20, held it down on the defensive line followed by goalie, Olivia Saenez, ‘23, who made 4 crucial saves throughout the night.

On the offensive end, goals came from Marisa Perez, ‘20, early in the first half to tie the game, 1-1.

After halftime, Basso connected with Ashley Wainwright, ‘20, for a throw in and header into the goal box to take the 2-1 lead.

Arroyo Grande scored for the last time to tie the game but with about 2 minutes left, Evan House, ‘20, found the net off a pass from Wainwright in the goal box to win the game, 3-2.

Redwood will face off against #3, Clovis High School in Clovis on Friday at 6pm.
