As spring rolls around the corner at Redwood, the yearly musical takes the stage at Redwood.

With the musical and other production put on here at Redwood, standards are very high from past experiences on our stages. This year is no disappoint. From the select band and orchestra players to the actors/actresses on the stage, the crowd is kept laughing and entertained by the characters.

The actors’ neverending enthusiasm and composure resulted in a phenomenal show for the audience to watch. Come into the theater and you’ll be struck with the excitement from the musicians and parents working. The show was full of humor and dancing that leaves a smile on one’s face upon watching.

Jersey Hays ‘21, takes the lead in her second musical in her high school career playing Princess Winifred. Her first musical, Seussical The Musical, Hays played one of the leads: Jojo. Hays’ presence on stage is very lively and she works very well with the other characters on stage. The Princess was a very memorable and vital part of the whole show.

The King, played by Gilberto Rivas ‘19, was an especially humorous character that we enjoyed watching and Once Upon a Mattress was one for the books. Despite some fairingly simple scenes that weren’t as jampacked with content and action, the musical definetly lived up to its hype. Plot lines ranging from the Queens marrige to Winifred’s life back at the swamp to the King who can’t talk, the audience is in for an exciting and riviting show put on here at Redwood

Solomon Stahl ‘20, takes the lead along side Hays in his first musical, although he acted and sang in last years as well. It seems to be second nature to him as his acting corresponds to his personality in real life too. Stahl was casted perfectly into the world of Princes and Princesses.

There’s no doubt the cast and crew worked very hard for this production. The props and costumes were very colorful and playful. You could tell the actors had fun on stage and memorized their lines and dance routines and they were joined by many students at Redwood in the dance classes and Dance Force. The singing from the main characters was a joy to hear, together sounding even better.

You are in for a treat in watching this musical and will no doubt leave with a smile on your face. There are many different opportunities to watch the show this year:
