Mr. Ray says, “We will travel to New York, present a shared concert with the groups we were playing with. And then we will join another band and create a national honor band that presents a concert with [composer and conductor] Frank Ticheli conducting.”

For the students, Mr. Ray shares his thoughts on what the opportunity of the trip would mean to them.

Mr. Ray says, “It’s an opportunity of a lifetime. You usually only get one shot to do that in your student career, whether that be in high school or college. So I think this is gonna be a capstone moment for them.”

He goes on to say that New York would be fun for the students.

For Mr. Ray, he says the opportunity, “Makes me very proud that our students have risen to such a level that we can audition for and be selected to play in such a prestigious venue. We get to represent not only our school, but our community, in what’s arguably one of the world’s most famous concert halls.”

A trip such as this poses the question of funding, and whether or not it will be an issue.

Mr. Ray says, “Students are going to work really hard to fundraise, and get there through fundraising efforts. But I think anytime we take a large trip like this, funds are an issue for some students.”

He also adds that people can donate to their cause through their website at rangerbands.org.

Mr. Ray says, “We would love some support, both from a morale standpoint and good vibes coming our way, as well as financial support.”
