Nora Allstedt is in her 30th year of teaching students K-12 in Tulare County, but her experience teaching varies across 3 different states. Allstedt also continues to contribute to our community by volunteering in VUSD schools. “Some examples are playing in the orchestra for musicals at Golden West and Redwood High Schools.” Allstedt can be seen in her free time creating music at Gateway Church using the saxophone.

Allstedt is running for a seat on the school board under District 7. Allstedt is an experienced teacher, as well as a Certified Online and Blended Educator. Allstedt feels that “Visalia Unified School District needs board members that have experience and understand our educational system.” Keeping in mind the unfamiliar distance learning, Allstedt says “I know how digital learning works.”

Allstedt is very passionate about simply wanting “to give back to my community” and wants to do so with her knowledge when she “lobbied at both the State and National level for better education policy.”

Running against other candidates, Allstedt differs. “I understand how funding currently works for California schools.” Her passion for education led her to gain an advantage “having served on a district-level budget committee and attended state training on our Local Control Funding Formula.” Allstedt understands certain necessities of the modern education system as a district Educational Technology Specialist.

If Allstedt receives a seat on the school board, she plans to maintain a safe environment for all students and staff members while also promising racial equity as well as justice for all students. Allstedt’s goals also include continuing to contribute inclusive school committees for students and staff members.

Nora Allstedt is running for a District 7 seat. Elections are November 3rd.
