Along with the new year, comes a new semester. For some students they enter their last semester as a high school student, and for others they are just entering their last semester of the school year. Either way, the second semester brings new chances for students of every class.

Izabella Franco, ‘22, says, “Since I’m only a freshman, it was kind of hard to adjust to the new semester since I’ve never had to do that before and now teachers are expecting more of us because they expect us to know the way of things, and they expect us to be more independent. This semester I want to stop procrastinating on doing homework because I always go on my phone until it’s late at night, then decide to do my homework.”

Daniela Martinez, ’21, said, “I think the first semester went well, but I already have a feeling that this semester will be better. I am excited to learn new things and meet new people. My plan for this semester is to be more on top of things, because I usually procrastinate. I’m super excited about performing in the musical and the choir showcase. As a group we’ve worked up to these things since the beginning of semester one and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been doing.”

A big part of the new year is people making new years resolutions, or setting goals they want to accomplish throughout the year. A common theme in students new year’s resolutions is related to school, and the goals they want to accomplish in school. The new semester, where every student has a fresh start, now has the chance to complete these goals that they may not have been able to accomplish the first semester.
