A new school year has started which means new fashion trends.
Multiple students around campus are participating in trends that are very prevalent in the media. Some of these trends include, athletic wear, nail designs, 2000’s fashion, and thrifting/vintage shopping.
Briana Romo, ’25 said that she’s into nails and corsets/satins, and she got into this trend because of the goth vibe it has.
Another trend that has become very popular amongst teens is athletic wear.
Athletic wear has become a very easy way to throw on a cute outfit while still being comfortable.
One person who has implemented this trend into everyday life is Allyson Zamora, ’22.
Zamora shares, “I like to wear more lazy, laid back stuff if I’m in a rush.”
When Zamora saw this trend on TikTok, she knew it was perfect for her.
This reflects Zamora’s personal style since she has always been a fan of athleisure since it is, “easy to wear and comfortable.”
‘Y2K,’ fashion has really been brought out heavily in the media. The rise in new popularity of the clothes 2000’s stars wore has made a big influence on today’s generation.
Someone who really reflects this trend is Jadyn Garcia, ’22.
Garcia enjoys experimenting with fashion and finding new ways to embrace her personal style.
She explains, “Mostly, I feel like I follow a lot of ‘Y2K’ trends.” On another note, she is a big Harry Styles fan and feels that he has an impact on her fashion as well.
Vintage and thrift shopping has been very trendy for a few years now. There is just something very exciting about buying used clothes for discounted prices, it is also a great way to help the environment.
Emma Phillips, ’22 is a huge advocate for sustainable fashion. She shares, “I enjoy vintage shopping- no clothes go to waste and you can really rework something that is second-hand and has some age to it.”
Some exciting brands for Phillips to find while shopping are: Juicy Couture, Ed Hardy, and “anything designer.”
A few great local thrift stores include, Rescued Treasures, Salvation Army, The Odd Shop, Simply Chic Boutique, and the Goodwill.
Piper Lambert, ’24 likes more of a comfy/cute look. Another word for this would be ‘streetwear.’
Lambert says, “I definitely participate in the baggy shorts/baggy pants trend.”
This is a good way for Lambert to be comfortable, but still look cute and confident.
This style represents her happy, warm, and comforting personality. Another accessory Lambert enjoys is claw clips. Claw clips give you the ability to have an easy, but still cute hairstyle.
Micah Steipech, ’23 dresses up his daily outfits by wearing ties. He fell in love with the diversity this brings to his outfits.
Steipech makes this statement because it is a way to express his personality. He explains that, “it’s not too extreme, but it’s also a little different. I’m not the most extreme person, but I am certainly different.”
