Ms. Aguilar, one of the history teachers at Redwood, traveled to Madrid with her mother over winter break.
Ms. Aguilar “went to surrounding cities of Segovia and the cathedrals were probably the most incredible pieces.” Ms. Aguilar got to see amazing pieces of architecture when she went to Madrid that she would not have been able to see where she lives now.
This trip affected how she saw her home state. In Europe, she explains, everything is all tightly knit. “When I came back home, it was very different to have lots of space.”
She did not go on this trip alone. Ms. Aguilar went with her mother. “It was a dream of ours to go.” Not only was this trip a vacation, but it was also something they both wanted to do.
This trip helped her to be more aware of different types of cultures. “It definitely inspires me to keep going to back, to keep learning about that part of the world.” The trip also helped her with what she should teach her students and how to teach them subjects.
Ms. Aguilar also encourages everyone to leave the United States to see what else is in the world.
