At Redwood High School, school spirit is shown in lots of ways throughout the students and staff, and it creates a community among the entire school.
Alexis Seals, ‘27 The Rally Club president, loves the dress up days and loves seeing everyone else dressing up too.
Seals says, “I think dress up days for me, are already fun, but something that would make them more engaging, more fun is if everybody on campus was dressing up. I love it, seeing everybody else getting excited.”
She wishes more people were to dress up for the dress up days but it’s still fun seeing everyone involved.
Seals uses the Mojo Dojo Casa House Day as an example of a fun dress up day because people enjoyed dressing up and it was, she says, “really fun because a bunch of people from different groups were dressing up.”
Seals believes that Redwood has the biggest school spirit out of all the high-schools and says, “it makes Redwood the tradition of excellence special.”

Jesse Xiong, ’27 the junior class president says, “The way I show school spirit is by attending events that we plan meticulous in ASB. I like to dress up. I do my best to dress up as much as I can. I’ll go out, and invite people to places too.”
He wants everyone to feel welcome to Redwood and be involved with the school spirit.
Xiong loves the tradition of Cowhide and how involved everyone is the week before, he says, “It’s also really fun to do. It’s all the games that happen during the week. It’s really fun to watch too”
Even with the fun things happening, there is more to the school spirit than just the games.
Mr. Pedro Siqueiros Jr. the ASB director says, “Spirit connects students and staff, helping to create lasting friendships. These friendships can help inspire everyone to develop goals and work harder in the classroom. The more events we can create and advertise weekly, the more goals and friendships we can build as a school.”
Mr. Siqueiros wants students and staff to feel like they belong at Redwood, he says, “School spirit is the heartbeat of a Campus. Students and staff must feel a sense of belonging. The more activities and events that are happening on campus, the more opportunities everyone has to get involved and support one another”
When more people get involved with things on campus that’s when everyone begins to get to know each other and start to support their peers and staff around them.
Ava Dodson, ’28, the sophomore class president says, “Redwood is the best for a reason, they have the best spirit.”
Dodson wants everyone to get involved with something so that everyone can be connected. She thinks if people have school spirit that it’ll make school more fun and make school better.
Carson Woomer, ’29, freshman president says, “Redwood has some of the most passionate kids. So when we have a lot of spirit, it shows that we care the most. That’s part of why Redwood is super great because everyone cares and goes all out.”
The more people that dress up for the dress-up days or get involved with anything around campus, the more of a community Redwood becomes.
Sophia Diaz, ’26, ASB president says, “I hope to leave just a welcoming environment, I kind of hope for the next couple of events coming up with Cowhide, I hope to make an environment where you feel like you’re not at school and just feel excited to be there.”
Diaz wants students to enjoy their time at Redwood with the future of ASB events. She has a fun year planned for her final year at Redwood and for everyone else to enjoy too.
Diaz wants the school to, “just to have spirit that’s noticeable. I want other schools to kind of just look at us from afar and be like wow, that’s the model, that’s what we want to get to, so I think that’s basically my idea for this year, just to make everyone look at Redwood and wish they went to Redwood.”
