hi, im an arts and entertainment writer but ended up enjoying writing about the people here at redwood. I like writing about people because it makes me feel like im doing something that is worth it and important to lots of people. I joined journalism because I needed to pick one last elective, but im grateful that I got it because it taught me the importance of writing and showed me something ive never done before but ended up loving.

The Art of Teaching Art: how Steven Harris Inspires the Next Generation of Artists

Steven Harris is a Studio Art teacher at Redwood High School who shapes and inspires the student artists of Redwood.

This story might be my favorite ive done because the reason I chose to write it was because while taking art I would see Mr.Harris walk around and help out the students but I would always notice how great his work was and how much he loved what he did. this story taught me that if something seems to go unnoticed you have to be the person to notice it. I loved writing this because I knew I was writing for a great person who would appreciate it.

Teaching with Heart: Ana Romo’s Lasting Impact on Her Students

Known for her warmth and determination, Ana Romo’s impact goes far beyond academics at Redwood, inspiring her Avid students to believe in themselves and their potential.

This story taught me how to write a long story while keeping everything on track and relevant, I had to make sure I was writing the important stuff and not just rambling on.

Honoring Life and Legacy: Redwood’s Dia de Los Muertos Brings Community Together

Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday for reuniting the living with the dead. People create ofrendas, visit cemeteries, and celebrate with family, all to honor and remember the departed. This joyful celebration of life has come to Redwood High School to share its culture.

This story taught me how to write on an event and include every moment. It also taught me the importance of culture and the different ways people celebrate it.

This semester has taught me that even if I don't really like talking to some people I have to do it anyways and Its made it easier to talk to people. Mr. Miller being the teacher definitely helped because I don't like when teachers push me to do more I'd rather them just watch me work because I do good on my own and I don't need someone to make sure I work, and Miller did exactly that, he didn't put pressure on me and he let me write what I wanted. I wont be here next semester but I am happy that I got to experience journalism and write for the Gigantea.
