On Monday, during Redwood’s annual Homecoming Rally, the Top boys and girls that are running for king and queen were announced.
As it becomes closer to Friday, the homecoming court is doing anything they can to promote them for king our queen. Making shirts, pins, handing out candy, posting on social media, anything to try and get students to vote for them.
For the 2024-2025 school year, here are Redwood’s Queen nominees:
Gwyn Miller, ‘25, is a four year Dance Force member was nominated by Dance Force.
Madisyn Hamilton ‘25, has been playing Golf since her freshman year and was nominated by golf.
Kaylene Garza, ‘25, is the CSF president and was nominated by CSF.
Jayme Gomez, ‘25, has been a part of the girls soccer team for four years, and was nominated by the team.
And Sienna Doyle, ‘25, has been nominated by RHS Key Club.
Miller feels really excited about all that has happened this week, and what is to come Friday night.
Miller says, “I’m feeling really excited. I’m really glad that I get to represent dance force. It’s a really cool class to be in, and I just love everybody in there so much, so I’m excited that I get to represent them.”
Most of the girls have been with the class, sport or club that nominated them, for four years. A Golf player since her freshman year, Hamiltom says, “I feel amusing. I think this week [is] super fun and it’s just been really exciting…and I liked getting to know all of the other nominees.”
As Friday begins to come closer and closer, the Homecoming court is focusing on trying to secure their votes from students. Making shirts, pins, handing out candy, posting on social media, anything to help their chances of winning.
Hamilton says, “I’m definitely doing a flow, I’m posting on social media, and then I have some plans [passing] out some little cookies and have people wear shirts.”
“I made T-shirts, and I’ve also gotten candy and I’m passing it out to everybody. I made buttons, I’ve been making Instagram stories and just talking to people, telling them, hey vote for me,” Miller says.
Taking it back to her freshman year, when she experienced their first homecoming, Hamilton says that she has thought about it, but didn’t expect it to become a reality.
“I’ve definitely always thought about wanting to be homecoming queen, I think everyone has, but, I never thought it would be like reality that I could be a part of the court.” She says.
Miller says that she would feel honored to be representing a club for Homecoming queen back when she was a freshman.
“I thought it was such an honor to be nominated and recognized by a club, so I definitely [have] been thinking that over the past four years that it’s such an honor to be nominated and I always was like, oh, that would be so cool if I got it,” says Miller.
