This school year, the school is putting on the musical production of “The Wizard of Oz”. For this years production, there are five lead roles. The main character, Dorothy, the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow. The Lion is being played by Kylen Gray ‘22.
For Gray, time management plays a huge roll on how he is able to participate. He sometimes has to do some homework between takes, and has to figure out when is a good time to do some of his school work, making sure that most of his work is done before he gets home.
Outside of school, Gray plays water polo and swim. He also enjoys playing instruments and singing. Gray is very involved in musicals. He has done one production for Redwood, and a couple of shows for Newsies. He began with middle school in the production of the “Little Mermaid”. He has had a good experience during musicals, he does get nervous here and there, all because they don’t always know if they have reached their full potential. “It’s a great experience and you get to meet a bunch of cool people”, says Gray.
Gray chose to become an actor because he enjoyed the music and it was something that he could see himself involved in. His journey in acting has come a far way. He has had some good teachers and has learned to grow. When Gray was asked if he could see acting in his future, “I hope so. It is a dream job.”
Gray and his cast members have been working hard and are hoping to have an awesome show. The show is open for everyone starting on Thursday, February 6th at 7 P.M and another showing at 7 P.M on Friday, February 7th. More chances to see it is on Saturday, February 8th at 2 and 7 P.M. $10 for students, $15 general admission, and $20 for preferred seating. Come support Kylen Gray and all your fellow Rangers!
