As we get into our 4th month of school, Redwood choir has already caught the eye of many. Mr. Carrillo is guiding Redwood choir to yet another successful year. They have already had their first fall performance and have attended a choir clinic at Fresno State. Choir is now busy practicing for their upcoming winter performance.

Fall Performance

Redwood choir stunned the audience at their first performance on October 8th. Audience member Melissa Vasquez says, “Redwood choir has improved so much! Last year they were good but this year their great. Mr.Carrillo is doing a wonderful job.”

Students in choir are extremely proud of their accomplishments so far this year. Adian Nankervis 20′ said “Our first performance went very well. We are doing great, way better then we have done in the past.” Nankervis is a four year member in Redwood choir and “has seen the best and the worst of choir performances.”

Fresno State Choir Clinic

Choir students got the opportunity to take a day trip to Fresno State about a week ago for a choir clinic. Aaron Garcia 20′ says “Choir clinics are great for improving our program. We go to these clinics in hope of finding our voices.”

Many may wonder, what does choir do at these clinic? Garcia said, “We perform 3 prepared pieces to trained choir clinicians. They will then take the piece we need the most improvement on and help us.” Choir is reaching for the stars this year and “only improving as the years pass,” says Garcia. Garcia is a senior and will soon graduate and as the year goes on, choir is finally finding their true voices.

Winter Performance

Redwoods winter performance is just around the corner. Choir is busy preparing for the upcoming show. Choir can’t wait to amaze the audience once again with their outstanding voices. They will be presenting their pieces on Tuesday, December 10th!
