Jema Serrato, ‘27, played defense for the JV team this season. Serrato shared that her highlight of the season was, “My birthday goal which was also my first, on January 31st. My birthday is February 1st,” said Serrato.
Serrato, being a defender, said that she didn’t get many opportunities to score but it was one of her main goals all season.
Serrato shared that her least favorite part of the season was “tying our first league game to El D.”
Being a captain on any sports team can be challenging. You have to be a leader while also being there for your teammates, and growing with everyone is important.

Brynne Amundson, ‘28, had a big role on and off the field, being one of four team captains.
Amundson said she felt that throughout the season, “our team bonding just got stronger. Going into the season no one really knew each other, and then after practices, having team bondings, we got closer,” said Amundson.
When asked about how she felt she grew this season, Amundson shared that she would work on her own time and work hard at practice, and put in max effort.
Amundson said that her personal goal for next season is “probably to make Varsity and just have a good season.”

Analizah Balderas, ‘28 was another captain on the team. Balderas shared that her favorite memory was, “scoring my header goal at home against Porterville and Jema assisting it.”
Lots of the girls had the same feelings about playing El Diamante and felt it was a low in their season. Balderas said, “Tying to El D was definitely my least favorite moment.”
Balderas hopes to make Varsity next year and work hard when she gets any playing time.

Ava Porter, ‘28, was also a captain on the team and felt she grew as a leader on the field. “I was able to be more comfortable with the girls and talk a lot more,” said Porter.
When asked about her goals, Porter said, “I feel like I did a better job mentally and being able to fix my mistakes.”
The JV Girls lost their only game to Clovis East. Porter said, “My least favorite moment of the season was probably losing to that one Clovis team, even though it was a close game.”
Porter says, “My favorite memory was probably winning our tournament from the beginning of the season.”
