During Covid most teenagers started their own business to pass time. Camryn Deisman ‘22 started her business of selling jewelry.
During the Covid lock down many teenagers were bored and stuck at home, discovering new hobbies. Deisman ‘22 states “what started me making jewelry/my business was Covid. Because we were stuck at home all day, I took on jewelry making as a hobby.”
When starting a business young its crazy to see how far you’ve came and who has noticed you. “It still amazes me when I get orders from places like France or Spain, because I did not expect it to get this far.” Deisman ’22 states.
Now that we are back at school, with all the responsibilities for school sometimes it may get stressful. Deisman ’22 says “it can get pretty difficult managing everything but it is definitely worth it…I think of it as something that I do to relax at home.”
When buying your own products to make into a craft and sell, you have to decide on a price to sell your items. Deisman ’22 states, “I always try to make my jewelry as affordable as possible because I want to make sure people who are my age can afford it.”
When your’re using a platform to sell your items you want to stand out to people so they will be a returning customer. Deisman adds, “I hope that the style and affordability makes my business stand out”.
There is a process to creating jewelry which takes up some time. Deisman ’22 says “it takes a lot of creativity and planning but overall when I am making my items.
Deisman ’22 didn’t expect her business to come as far as it did, she says “I’m super happy that my business has come as far as it has. I never expected it to, so at this point it really something that brings me a lot of joy in my life.”
Being a business women in school may be stressful at times, but its worth it getting positive feedback from happy customers.
