With having classes online this year getting up and ready for class is optional. For students who wake up late with the AM class they may not have time to get ready or maybe just dont see a reason too. And for students with the PM class they have more time to get up and ready if they want to.

Hayden Esterman ‘(22) says,” Even though I have the PM session and I have the time to get ready I really think that it’s a waste of time to get ready unless I have something to do during the day or after school”

Before COVID-19 hit most students would at least try to look presentable before heading out to school. But now most of them wake up five minutes before class starts to brush their teeth and lay back in bed

Esterman also says, “I do rarely get ready if I’m in the mood but it’s nothing special or full blown and Ill turn my camera on since I look presentable but, my teachers don’t force our cameras to be on”

Aileen Viveros ‘(22) says, “Having AM session isn’t easy when it comes to logging on and waking up. I usually log one late and have my camera off for all of my classes.”

As for a morning session point of view you can realize that for the AM students leaving their bed the whole time school is going on is not on their agenda or one of their concerns so getting ready is the least of their worries.

Viveros adds to say, “But the main reason I don’t show my face in class is because of my morning hair and face..I don’t want to embarrass myself with how I look right after waking up and even though I feel bad for having my camera off I won’t risk it.”

Since some but not all teachers don’t force the students to have their camera on this might be one of the big reasons why we don’t feel obligated to get ready since no one will see us. And frankly getting ready when you could sleep in for longer is most likely always going to get turned down.

Also not being ready and just laying in bed while doing class could also be a big reason why students feel lazy and don’t want to do their classwork. Getting ready for class could help and push students to do more and not be lazy. Maybe the school should enforce cameras on…what do you think?
