ASB Teacher, Mr. Siqueiros explains how the vice president is chosen.

On Friday, May 1st, the election for different office positions occurs. Both the president and vice president of ASB at Redwood High School will be decided. Who becomes the president of ASB is important, but so is the role of VP.

Firstly, the choice for VP is picked “by the student who receives the second most points from the election and from their interview scores combined,” says Siqueiros.

Essentially, the election is a form posted that all students are able to access in order to vote for who they believe can run their offices and roles the best.

Their interview scores consist of an individual assessment done by Mr. Siqueiros and another teacher, where those running are asked about their experience in ASB, accomplishments and what they intend to do as either president or vice president.

One person will become president, and the other becomes VP, but what happens to the other two students running who do not obtain any of these positions?

Siqueiros says “students that are not elected as an officer or an executive board member still have the opportunity to be apart of our ASB class. They would just have to try out for one of the five teams that we have.”

Even though they would not receive the role of either president or VP, these students would still have an opportunity to be an officer.

What is being looked for the most is what each person has completed in their time at ASB, whether they have been in the class for a few years, or just one.

The reason why they are running is also essential to understand how they would be the best fit for the responsibilities this leadership position holds.
