Sora is a character that was put into Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 18th, 2021. Originally from the Kingdom Hearts Series, a much-loved series by fans around the world, many people were excited to see Sora be put into smash after the game was released three years ago on December 7th of 2018.
For those who don’t know, Smash Bros Ultimate is a game for the Nintendo Switch and has a wide variety of characters like Mario, Samus from the Metroid, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and almost any very popular Nintendo character. It is a game that can be played locally with friends or online with friends or random people. It has become a true friendship destroyer like Mario Kart.
When asked about how he felt about Sora being the final character in Smash Bros Ultimate, Matthew Murrell ‘23 said “Overall I felt like this roster was fairly complete but I feel like Sora is the final piece of the Puzzle and I’m really happy for everyone who wanted Sora”
Murrell said “From the trailer, we saw on ‘Sakurai Presents’ I think the character is a bit overrated from what we saw. I feel like this character would be anywhere from the top of middle-tier to the bottom of Top-Tier.”
Murrell adds “He has a lot of Gimmicks and has a lot of potentials to be an amazing character” when he was asked about how he felt about Sora overall.”
Isaac Reynoso ‘23 said “Personally I am pretty excited. He seems like a pretty interesting character and I played a bit of the Kingdom Heart games. It’s like a bittersweet ending because it’s sad to not get any more characters but it’s nice to see everything finally come together.”
Reynoso adds “He could have a lot of potentials but I am not too sure since he just came out but I am excited to see what people will do when they get more of a feel for him.”
Dante Gomez ‘23 says “He definitely deserved it. I think it’s incredible how Sakurai was able to get him seeing how he is owned by Disney and they can be pretty stingy. Besides that, he is a pretty decent character. I wouldn’t say he is great, but I can see a few tournaments being won by people who play like him.”
Marlene Aguirre ‘25 says “I don’t know how they got him in for one but I don’t mind him being the last one since I probably won’t be getting him. I’m happy for the people who wanted him to be in Smash”
Emilio Navarro ‘23 says “It’s gotta be Sora because a lot of people want Sora. I personally don’t care about Sora a lot but he deserves to be in Smash. His move set will probably be pretty strong once people get a feel for him and he feels really floaty.”
Spencer Byrd ‘23 Says “I think he was a really good character for a final pick. It feels like a big achievement for Smash Bros as a whole. It is a big moment and I feel like everyone should be happy. His move-set feels really floaty, funny, and cool.”
