This week, the nominees’ lives are very busy.  Brie Lopez, ‘19, says all this week she has been doing a lot with “finding dress up day stuff, a car, a dress, and t-shirts for the Great Race.”  The car even has to be a convertible so she can be seen out of it. While others like Jill Nelsen, ‘19, says, “I have been going day by day, step by step, seeing how it goes.”

Whether they are trying to take it a bit slow or go fast the whole week, they’ve all gotten a dress.  No one rented but, 4 of the 5 girls said borrowing was the way to go. Some said it was too much or really expensive to buy a dress when Homecoming is already costly and others said it was easier on such short notice.  No matter, how they got their dress, everyone was really excited to dress up for homecoming and they really loved dressing up all this week. Makenna Haskill, ‘19, says “I love dress up days….I get to go all out and be crazy….I think everyone likes to be dolled up and have a fun time.”  They also like to see “all of the Homecoming Court dressed up”, Lopez says.

We can all give back to Redwood in certain ways.

Homecoming is a fun time of the year at RHS.  Molly Collins says, [she has loved homecoming] “since my freshman year when Brooklyn Morris won Homecoming queen.”  While others “weren’t expecting to get [nominated] at all”, Kaylee Gallardo, ‘19 said but, “I’m thankful for my escort who’s been so cooperative through all of this and he’s so sweet and nice….I’m lucky to have him.”  The bottom line is they all want to win and they all feel it is really fun to be a part of Homecoming.  Like, Haskill says, it is fun because they can “all give back to Redwood in certain ways.”

The homecoming queen will be named tonight at halftime in the Mineral King Bowl. The varsity game starts at 7:30.
