Ranger Baseball secured a massive 14-1 win over San Luis Obispo in the first round of the central section division 1 playoffs on Wednesday.
The big Ranger win was due in large part to the Redwood offense firing on all cylinders.
Joey Volchko ‘23 Cash Rico ‘25 Joey Rico ‘23 and Reece Bueno ‘23 all recorded home runs to help lead the Rangers to the big win.
Redwood head coach Dan Haydash says his team keeping their same approach is key to more success in the playoffs.
“Keeping our approach at the plate is key. Hitters have bought into what we’ve been working on and it is paying off. The challenge is to keep applying the approach that is working.”
If the Rangers can keep the approach they had on Wednesday they will be a tough team to beat as the playoffs continue.
Cash Rico ‘25 recorded his first home run of the season on Wednesday in his first-ever playoff game. Rico says, “It felt super good, it was honestly the best feeling I ever felt, especially in a playoff atmosphere, but as a team, we all contributed to getting our win in our first round of playoffs.”
Joey Rico ‘23 says, “It felt great to get another one yesterday and help the team with the win.”
The Rangers will take on inner-city rival El Diamante Miners on Friday at 4:30 at Aaron Hill Field.
