Redwood High School’s gymnasium has been under construction for the last two years. Principal Dr. Amanda Richard was able to provide an update.

“I actually got a tour of the locker rooms and the gym just last Friday. And the progress that has been made has been tremendous, so I’m super hopeful that we’ll be getting those on time as promised,” Dr. Richard says.

According to Dr. Richard, the construction team is waiting for the weather to improve so the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning [HVAC] units can be installed.

The units are currently on the track in the Mineral King Bowl.

Because of how Redwood is built, the HVAC units must be helicoptered to where they will be installed. “There’s no room to put a crane [to install the HVAC units],” Dr. Richard says.

The HVACs are planned to be installed this Saturday, January 21.

Dr. Richard says, “I will know more by this Friday whether [the HVAC installations] are going on. Once those [are installed], we can start moving forward.”
