On January 23, 2023, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning [HVAC] units were installed in Redwood High School’s gymnasium.
“[Installing the units went] very well,” Principal Dr. Amanda Richard says. “All systems have been placed.”
According to Dr. Richard, the next step is to connect the systems. Once they are running, the wood for the new floor can be brought in.
The wood needs to acclimate to the new environment and humidity, as wood expands and contracts.
The process takes approximately three weeks. Once it has been adjusted, the old floor will need to be removed. This takes approximately one week.
Installing the new floor takes about six weeks. Once it is in place, it will need to have the court lines and designs painted and then varnish applied. Once the varnish dries, the new bleachers can be installed.
“Currently, we do not have a completion date set in stone,” Dr. Richard says. “We are hopeful that we will have the gym in May, sometime before school is out.”
