The cost of Rangers Spirit at Redwood High School is being overlooked by its students in various ways.

Are the costs of Redwood events and activities overpriced or fair? Students all over campus have their own opinions on school prices, whether it is PE clothes, dances, sports, or even extracurricular activities.
Rangers know that cheerleaders lead our school spirit at Redwood High School, but it’s never really acknowledged how much these cheerleaders pay to lead our school spirit.
Brianna Alvarado, ‘28, a member of the cheer squad here at Redwood, says, “It’s been a bit difficult because when the payments come, the payments come in big portions, like 300 dollars at once. And there are deadlines to meet the required payments.” Showing that as a Ranger athlete, the expectations for payments can be overwhelming.
However, not all Rangers struggle with the expenses.
Kayla Arroyo, ’28, a member of the dance force, says, “I think compared to competitive dance it seems more affordable,” while school dance may be cheaper than competitive dance, does it make it fair that students have to pay thousands of dollars a year to be in these sports?
It’s not just school sports that ask students to contribute financially; here on campus, Redwood charges its students for football games, dances, and other activities throughout the year.
Three classes were asked, “Are harvest prices fair to students?” and from the data gathered, over 99.6% of students said yes.
Although students think prices are unfair, are they considering the teachers?
Well, here’s an insight.
The ASB teacher, Mr.Siqueiros, who is the leader of school activities, says, “Planning months in advance and finding the right people and companies to help run your event.” Proving that it’s difficult to put on these events for rangers.
So is the high cost of school events really that bad?
If so, will the school reconsider and adjust the prices for upcoming events like Prom and Cowhide?
