We spoke to Chloe Seals, ’25, and mentors about her recent acceptance to University of Pennsylvania and what her future holds and how Redwood has made her who she is today.

It is a well known fact that Redwood High school students constantly exceed expectations, whether it be in the arts, sports, or academics. But even in such a competitively intelligent environment, an Ivy League bound senior is still grounds for a celebration.

Chloe Seals, ’25, has really immersed herself in Redwood culture the past four years. She is the President of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), a varsity cheer member, a CSF (California Scholarship Federation) lifetime member, and this years Mrs. Ranger!

With this impressive record, you can only imagine the great things Seals will go on to do. Seals was recently accepted into the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, a private Ivy League school in Philadelphia, which had an acceptance rate of only 4.5% for the Fall of 2023.

Seals explains, “This is definitely one of my proudest accomplishments. I could not have done this without the support of my friends, family, and mentors along the way.”

Seals feels that constant encouragement plays a major role in a student’s success throughout high school. She said, “It helped me stay grounded and motivated, both in the rigorous application process and all throughout my high school journey.”

But even with such an amazing support system behind her, Seals credits her biggest motivation being Redwood itself. She said, “I have always felt a deep connection to the school, and everything I did was rooted in a desire to give back and help Redwood grow.”

Seals’ overall goal as she closes her chapter in high school is to, “create opportunities for others the way this school has done for me.”

Mr. Jacob Avila is not only the Redwood business teacher, but has been the FBLA advisor for the past seventeen years. When asked about having Seals as a member of his team the past four years, he said, “She’s an incredible student, and sets the bar high for her peers time and time again.” As a mentor to Seals, it is no surprise to Mr. Avila that she was accepted to UPenn.

Mr. Avila said, “I am just so proud of her. It is such a huge deal to even just apply to an Ivy, let alone be accepted.” In Mr. Avila’s eyes, success comes down to being a T.R.U.E (Trustworthy, Respectful, Understanding, Effort) Ranger.

Mr. Avila said, “To me it is somebody like Chloe; someone who puts others first and is able to constantly support and lift up others around them.”

Seals finishes by saying, “The environment and support I have found at Redwood allowed me to discover my passions and develop my confidence. Congratulations to the class of 2025!”
