Redwood’s freshman football team took home yet another win on Thursday, September 13th, 2018, this time against Atascadero with a score of 35-21. The boys showed great strength in their rushing and blocking during the game which allowed them to pull off an overall win. Their overall record is 4-0.
Before the game Jayce Ford ‘22, and Karson Everett ‘22, both were very confident about how the game would go and were ready to take home another win. And they were right. Ethan Griffiths ‘22, Noah Medina ‘22, and Angel Perez ‘22, stated “We started off kind of slow but finished very strong in the end.”
Before the game “Everett gives us chants to get us going and motivates us to play our best.” says Griffiths. Looking at how our Rangers have been playing the pep talks that Everett is giving is doing some good.
Medina and Perez told us that during the game there was a lot trash talk going on on Westerns end, but that didn’t discourage our Rangers one bit.
Medina, Perez, and Griffiths all agree that the team bonds very well together. Griffiths said, “Especially on the bus. Everyone gets hyped up”. They all got closer as a team which if they want to win is important. If they don’t bond well or have trust in each other, they won’t play well together.
Ford says that he likes how Coach Orosco yells a lot and is very demanding. It makes them listen and work harder. The team practices every day to get better. Everyone can agree that their motivation is to win.
