Devin Calvo, ’27, eagerly waits to secure his spot on the soccer team for this upcoming season.
Calvo has experience and is confident in his playing abilities, ready to dominate the year off with a bang.
When asked how he is doing in practices so far he says, “I think I’m doing pretty good because I already played club, and last year I went to Canada to play soccer in an academy. So I think I’ve been doing pretty good.”
Calvo says he is, “Looking to improve confidence on the field and my technique.”
Hunter Vargas, ’27, is excited with results already, and can’t wait to continue the improvements.
Vargas says, “From when I first started, my conditioning was not where it should’ve been. Now that I’ve been practicing, it’s gotten a lot better. And I can now keep up with everyone else.”
When questioned about his thoughts on competing against older kids, Vargas says, “It’s a little intimidating at first because they are bigger and older, but once you get used to it, it’s a lot of fun to learn from different players.”
Beau Scholl, ‘27, is most excited this season, “to bring home the EYL championship,” to Redwood.
Scholl says that practicing has, “really helped me improve and makes me perform better to make the team and be my best.”
Scholl also says that playing against older teammates, “helps them stay competitive and try their best against them to make a spot on a team.”
Cory Torres, ‘27, has started to see improvements in his, “conditioning and his touches while practicing with other people more often.”
Torres is most excited, “to play with the team in general and have good relationships with the rest of the team and Redwood peers.”
Torres remains up for the challenge of competing against older kids because, “you can see how you play against [older teammates] and improve from them.”
