As Love Week comes to an end, first year ASB director looks back on a week of expanded spirit.
It took a lot of planning and time to get the school decorated, but everyone had to put their hearts into it to make it happen.
Mr. Siqueiros says, “Our goal was to make Love Week a little more extra than previous years. We wanted to build excitement by adding new elements so both students and staff, whether it’s their first or fifth love week. Our campus decor team created more posters, cut out larger hearts, and even invited Link Crew to help decorate the bridge, which brought more eye-catching pieces around campus.”
He wants everyone to get involved just like always with all the dress up days ASB comes up with or Link Crew’s events.

When all the students showed up on Monday morning and saw the decorations they just saw them but they didn’t appreciate the amount of work that was put into it.
Mr. Siqueiros says, “We started planning the week we came back from winter break. One of the first decisions was how to make the picnic day more exciting. We adjusted the food vendor date and extended the lunchtime so more students would stay on campus and enjoy the event.”
Student participation is one thing, but the memories are a whole other thing, creating core memories for the students is one of Mr. Siqueiros’ biggest things that he wants to happen.
But, he wants to make sure everyone really knows the real meaning of Love Week.
Mr. Siqueiros says, “We want people to understand the purpose behind the hearts around campus, the lunchtime activities, dress-up days, pack-the-gym games, blood drives, and love-bombing staff members. I think we can continue improving how we explain the meaning behind each event.”
When people think of love they think of significant others, but he says, “The biggest challenge has been communicating what Love Week truly represents. It’s not just about relationships; it’s about appreciation for friends, colleagues, community, family, and self-love.”
In the end Mr. Siqueiros says, “I hope students remember that love and appreciation can be celebrated every day, not just on valentines day. It’s a time to express gratitude and joy for the people who matter most to us, which are our friends, classmates, staff, and family. My hope is that the positivity we create this week continues throughout the rest of the school year at RHS.”
