As the school year progressed, numerous clubs such as the Feminist Perspective club have began to branch out.
The Feminine Perspective club is to help people connect with one another when it comes to societal challenges like inequity. The club has been passed down to former students and also has been taken over by a new advisor Mr. C, the History and Constitutional Law teacher.
Alina Hernandez, ‘23 is the 2021 president of the club. She says that she originally joined the club when she was a freshman and is now a junior and continuing her interest in the club.
Hernandez says her goal for the club is, “to create a strong community with the people in this club. [She] wants people to know whoever they are, whether it be their background, or who their identify is, that the club will welcome them with open arms.”
The club itself is a safe place for people to go and talk about experiences or just things they are passionate about without being judged or outcasted.
The club treasurer, Jupiter Napoles, ‘23 says, “It really just is to find ways to create an equal place for everyone.”
For the people who have opinions and want to make a change in what’s going on, this club allows people to use their voices in a positive manner and lets these students stand up for what they believe is right.
Napoles goes on to say that the reasoning for joining the club is because they are, “a big advocate for feminists, the ‘LGBTQIA’ community and equality for all.”
The club has activities planned for the coming year, they are always welcoming new members to join and spread positive energy. If interested, you can find more information on the club’s Instagram page, @rhsfeministperspective.
