From the wrestling mat to the soccer field and basketball court, Redwood’s seniors shine in their final season with these league records:

The Redwood Varsity Boys Soccer (4-6), Varsity Girls Soccer (9-0-1), Varsity Boys Basketball (10-0), Varsity Girls Basketball (4-6), and both Boys and Girls Wrestling working hard towards Valley.
Jesse Zetino, ’24, a Varsity Men’s Soccer Player is playing his last season with the team, he says, “Playing my last season with the team is definitely sad and happy at the same time, throughout the years of being here I’ve had a lot of success and defeats, but its sad because I don’t want to leave the team.”
Zetino, ’24, says, “If we end up making playoffs I think we’ll do well, it’ll definitely push us forward. We’ve kind of been a underdog this whole season, so going into playoffs and doing our thing will show we aren’t the underdog.”
Ellie Gilbert, ’24, a Varsity Women’s Soccer Player is playing her final season with the team, she says, “It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing my senior season is coming to an end. I know I’ll miss it, but I’m also excited for my soccer career ahead of me.”
Gilbert, ’24, says, ” Going into playoffs, I know it will be challenging but I think if we put our best foot forward and play to our best ability then we have a good shot of getting far into playoffs.”
AJ Camarillo, ‘24, a wrestler for Redwood, is currently working on wrestling for Fresno City College where he later plans to transfer for a D1 or D2 school, he says, “It’s a mix of emotions, it’s exciting because it’s my last year to show what I can do and sad at the same time because this is the last year I’m wrestling with my team and my coaches.”
Camarillo, ’24, says, “My biggest motivator is my coaches, Coach Wright and Coach Watts, because they have been with me and seen me improve since I first started.”
Jasimen Ortega, ‘24, a wrestler for Redwood, is committed to West Cliff University, she says, “It hasn’t hit me yet that my senior season is coming to end. There are a couple weeks left I’m trying to make the most of.”
Ortega, ’24, says, “ [I’m proud of] having a better mentality when it comes to willing do more for the sport to better myself.”
Jackson Swanson, ‘24, a Varsity Men’s Basketball Player, says, “[I’m proud of] going 10-0 in league, as far as in our season were doing pretty good.”
Swanson, ’24, notes the most challenging opponent by saying, “Dinuba, because they always beat us, and for us to beat them, they only had 3 losses this year and one of them was us.”
Aryel Chavez, ’24, a Varsity Girls Basketball Player is playing her last season with the team, she says, “It’s a bittersweet feeling playing my final season. I’m sad my high school basketball career is coming to an end but I don’t regret a thing about it and I’m thankful for all the memories it gave me.”
Chavez, ’24, says, “When it comes to playoffs, I think our team will do well. If we all play together and we all play with selflessness, then we have a good chance at making it far into playoffs.”
