Hacker says that FBLA is “a competition organization that allows you to compete, network, and so much more.”

As the youngest member of the council, he says he feels “really fortunate to have been given this opportunity. Across all of the councils, there were over 250 applicants so I feel really grateful to have been given this position.”

Hacker says his inspiration to apply on the council has been instilled in him through his many experiences, “While traveling to Chicago for the national competition this summer, [the trip] showed me that [he] really loved this organization. When [he] noticed that there were council positions open, [he] decided to go all in and see if [he] could learn more about FBLA and the opportunities that come with it.”

During his year of service, his responsibilities lie in “creat[ing] resources whenever they are needed.” Such duties that he has include coordinating with the “Public Relations Officer to create handouts to give out to the members who attend.”

He also plans to, “Create a tool kit that FBLA members all across the nation can use to become a better member.”

Looking forward, Hacker is considering a career in computer science and entrepreneurial, placing second at the FBLA state competition in App Design. He plans to stay in state for his undergraduates degree potentially looking at UC Berkley or UCLA.

Hacker says that opportunities, such as this FBLA council position, will prepare him for such a future, “If you are considering joining something like FBLA, or any other future-building opportunity, I would say do it.” He believes that such a mindset is applicable to others:

“It may seem to be daunting at first, but if you are on the verge of exploring a new passion there is so much that can go right. You never know what is going to influence you the most.”

Mr. Jacob Avila, Redwood’s FBLA Advisor, describes Adam as “someone who will excel on the National Council.”

In correspondence to Hacker’s position, Avila says it will allow Hacker to “utilize innovation and hard work in creating resources all members in the nation can benefit from and use. I am really excited to see all the things he creates this year to help members from all chapters nationally.”
