Redwood and Mt. Whitney’s yearly rival football game has a conflict with being scheduled the same day as Halloween.

Since 1955 the two schools have had a traditional football game every year, it gets both schools excited and hyped the week leading up to the game.

Although this year there’s been a slight dilemma with Halloween also being on the same day. Many students are torn with deciding where to go.

Juliana Jimenez-Castro, ’29, says “I’m excited but also kind of sad, I want to go to Cowhide but at the same time I won’t have time to go trick or treating.”

This is an issue for the people apart of the football team, band, and cheer too. They have to stay and support the game all night long.

Camille Du Toit, ’28, and apart of the JV cheer team, says, “I wish I could do them both but it’s okay.”

Some students are choosing to go support their school and others are wanting to celebrate the holiday.

Eli Archuleta, ’28, says, “I can relate to football games and get more of a connection to them, I think Cowhide on Halloween makes it more fun because there’s people in their costumes and their own game style.”
