With the Cowhide game finally back after taking leave for one year, there is lots of excitement around Redwood getting prepared for the week. During this sacred week, there are lunch activities and traditions that are kept alive.
Dress-up days are always something that the students look forward to, the students are able to show their Ranger pride and go all out on the dress-up days no matter what they are.
Redwood’s 2021 Cowhide dress-up days are, Monday: “Anything but a Backpack;” Tuesday: “Student/Teacher Flip;” Wednesday: “Trick-R-Treat;” Thursday: “Protect the Hide;” and lastly Friday: “Ranger Herd.”
Yesterday, Monday, which was “Anything but a Backpack,” students all around campus were using different items as a backpack such as ice chests, baskets, wagons, boxes, etc.
Jacob Huerta, ‘25 is experiencing his first year of Cowhide and the traditions they hold.
Huerta says, “I’m excited to be a part of the traditions and excited to be able to go to the game.”
With COVID-19 ruling out last year’s Cowhide game, it’s exciting knowing it’s back on.
With the week starting off with lots of rain, unfortunately the “Donut on a String” lunch time activity was not able to happen with the weather conditions.
One of the best “backpacks” brought to school was Julian Vicente’s, ‘22.
Loaned by one of his teachers, Mrs. Forsythe, Vicente walked around campus with one of her old cabinets with his school supplies inside.
Vicente says, “It was absolutely dreadful having to carry it around everywhere especially in the rain, but it was worth it after seeing all the kids laughing and asking to take pictures of me.”
Tuesday’s dress-up day is “Student/Teacher Flip” and the lunch time activity is “Throw-back games.”
