Redwood High School (RHS) held its bi-annual Club Day on September 11th, 2024 in the quad during lunch to present all the new and diverse clubs at school which any student could explore and join.

This year, Club Day introduced freshmen and returning students to the new clubs RHS had to offer, such as Create Club and United Through Christ.

Both of the clubs introduced themselves to the Rangers in their own unique way and had different experiences during Club Day.

Create Club attended Club Day and is a community service-driven club advised by Mr. Higareda and represented by Elsa Wendt, ’26.

Wendt says she “was overwhelmed by the support because a lot of kids were coming, lots of friends, and some new people I haven’t met,” and says she was glad her club had the chance to be recognized.

Create Club has many goals for the school year. Wendt, says, “The main goals are to kind of spread joy through the community, especially for little kids because we want to make sure that they feel important and loved.”

Wendt says how the club plans on mainly helping “impoverished communities and hospitals,” and creating gifts for the kids.

United Through Christ is one other newly added club that was showcased at Club Day and is a faith-based club. It is advised by Mr. Rojas and represented by Kaitlyn Peterson, ‘25.

In response to how United Through Christ experienced Club Day, Peterson, says, “We did really good. We got about a page of sign-ups, it [was] really enthusiastic, [and we got] a large variety of people.”

Just like all other clubs at RHS, United Through Christ has their own goals set for their club and its beliefs.

“We just want to make a good environment for anyone, just have people be able to come closer to Christ if they want to, [and] just a good feeling for everyone,” says Peterson.

Peterson overall hopes to achieve a supportive environment within United Through Christ and its members throughout the school year.

During Club Day both clubs each faced different challenges, but they all persevered.

Peterson says, “the heat and the dehydration” had gotten to her club, but they managed to push through by the end of Club Day.

On the other hand, Wendt says, “Since we had no idea what we were doing, we were [kind of] just thrown into it, we had to adapt on our own, kind of ask questions, but overall everyone was really supportive of us, especially ASB. It was an overall nice experience to get help from everyone.”
