Club 55 held their first club meeting of the 2022-2023 school year on Wednesday August 31st. This introductory meeting welcomed the officer team and shared the goals for the club.
Club 55 is a mental health awareness group on campus with the intention to create a safe space for struggling students.
Kicking off the club’s second year with an introductory meeting in room 73, members of Club 55 were informed of several ways to inform students about the truths of teen mental health around campus.
The club has elected two mental health officers and two positive impact officers on top of the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.
Club president Siella Beswick, ’23 and Vice President Kylie Farias, ’23 founded Club 55 during the 2021-2022 school year.
Beswick says that Club 55 is a “mental health and positive impact club”. The club focuses on “breaking the stigmas of mental health and making sure that everyone knows that they can look out for help when they are in need of it.”
Farias explains that the jobs of these special officer positions are “help[ing to] spread awareness by maybe putting posters on the wall or handing out stickers so people get the note of the day that [they’re] doing good.”
Similar to Beswick, Farias says that a goal she has is to “focus on the club a lot and do a lot of activities and just try to get a community together.”
Lillie Wasem ’23 explains that one of her jobs as a positive impact officer is to “put notes around school [to] make more of a positive impact.”
Her favorite part about Club 55 is the connection that the officer team has with one another. “We all kind of are getting close and we all have the same purpose; we all want to take action and make a difference in our school,” she adds.
