VISALIA, CA— On the afternoon of Monday, March 13, 2023, the City of Visalia declared a State of Emergency in response to Visalia’s severe weather.
The declaration will be in effect until Monday, March 20.
In addition, the city implemented an emergency response in preparation for a storm forecasted this morning.
Visalia Unified School District [VUSD] issued a statement at 8:30 PM last night. It reads:
Dear VUSD, families, and staff,
[Last] evening, the city of Visalia declared a state of emergency to ensure proper response to potential
weather. VUSD has been in touch with our city and local officials throughout the day and continue to monitor local conditions with them.
Our schools are open on Tuesday, 3/14. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day and adjust evening and other scheduled activities as necessary.
We are preparing for any potential scenario, and will continue to update families if any changes arise. Please note that buses will run and we look forward to seeing you at school [today].
