Mrs. Cheatwood, who has been the CSF advisor for 14 years, has decided to retire at the end of this year and hand off the position to Mrs. Vieira, who plans to keep the CSF life growing.

Georgette Cheatwood, English 1 honors teacher says, she is “sad to leave students, parents, and the administration,” but “happy for a new part in her life.”

Cheatwood has taught at Redwood for 22 years, while also being an “antique dealer for the past 27 years.”

Being a CSF advisor has made Cheatwood’s life “richer by being able to know students and seeing the success of them.”

Cheatwood is a believer in community, scholars, and seeing students achieve.

Cheatwood says, “My favorite contributions are the community service opportunities for all members… and the freshman orientation that educates students on the merits and requirements for CSF lifetime membership.”

Cheatwood will still be around to help and support, but plans to “write both fictional and nonfictional books, travel, learn French, garden, attend Bible study, see [her] grandchildren more, and be with [her] two St. Bernard’s full-time.”

Cheatwood says she is excited for the future, but she “is anxious about not having enough time to do everything [she] wants to.”

“I have loved being at Redwood, and I am very grateful for the opportunity of working with the best principals, teachers, and students. Rangers are awesome,” Cheatwood says.

Nicole Vieira, English 2 honors and AP Literature teacher says, “I feel excited to carry on the super well run organization of CSF.”

This is Vieira’s 8th year teaching at Redwood and her experience has been “overwhelmingly positive.”

Vieria says that Redwood has a “special group of students” that she really enjoys teaching and “[doesn’t] see herself leaving ever.”

Vieria’s focus for next year is going to be “access, making sure students, especially freshmen,” know what CSF is “because [she] has a lot of students who are now sophomores that miss it freshmen year.”

Vieria says, “I’m feeling enthusiastic and excited about taking [CSF] over, getting to work with kids, and making sure the greatness Mrs. Cheatwood had over the years continues on.”
