In September, Redwood hosted a Club Fair to showcase the wide variety of clubs and activities the school has to offer beyond the traditional academic setting. Three months later, the Gigantea headed out to check in with one of those clubs to catch up on how they’ve developed since September.

Abri Stephens, ‘19, presides over the Conspiracy Theory Club with great pride. Club meetings are rare and intentional so, you can find members in TH 205 on unorthodox “holidays” like April 20th and Halloween. The irregularity of these days creates an optimal atmosphere for discussing conspiracies and anomalies occurring around us daily. On Halloween, for example, “we started talking about how the LJ was haunted, and then we transitioned into the Sycamore Valley,” says Stephens. “We’re like…spooky,” she continues.

During her time with the Gigantea, Stephens struggled with picking her favorite conspiracy theory the club has discussed so far. “It would have to be the Flat Earth Theory,” she said before transitioning into the moon landing. “Maybe we did go to the moon, but the video is just so bad. There’s no way the flag is moving because there’s no air currents in space.” Stephens continued to discuss the conflicting nature of the shadows in the video and why the U.S. would have been motivated to fake a moon landing.

Stephens’s passion for the club translates into enthusiastic members with the same creative energy she shows at every club meeting. Bryan Trejo, ‘19, is another member of the Conspiracy Theory Club with an excitement for the unexplained. “We talked about the spaceship over LA just recently,” said Trejo. When asked if he felt the spaceship was the product of Elon Musk as reported by various news outlets, Trejo told the Gigantea, “Mm, I don’t think it is.”

Trejo continued to speak positively about the club and reflected upon the camaraderie shared between each of the club’s members. Students hoping to learn more about the Conspiracy Theory Club can contact Abri Stephens or see Mr. Cain in Room TH 205 for more details.
