This past Friday, Redwood’s five Mr. Ranger candidates competed in the annual talent show to determine who our new Mr. Ranger would be! Bryan Trejo was crowned Redwood High School Mr. Ranger.
Trejo did not expect to win he said, “because we had a lot of guys who had a lot of talents going on for them and they had a lot of raw energy going on. I felt like they were playing the crowd really good and I was playing the crowd really good, I sang and played the piano to the song ‘Just a Friend’ by Biz Markie, it didn’t go that great but it was a fun thing to do. It was just really surreal when they called my name”.
He is the first ever Mr. Ranger to be nominated by the drama department. “It felt really good because I was the first drama nominee to make it to the top five and the first drama nominee to win for Mr. Ranger.” It was such a fun experience, I really loved it.”
With his new title he “hopes to be an example of the fact that you do not have to be the popular kid, you do not have to have the most followers on social media, you can just impact the school by having great connections and just work hard.” To him Mr. Ranger “is a person who represents the whole school and should be a good leader and a good example of what it means to be a Redwood Ranger.”
Along with the title of Mr. Ranger, the other boys received crowns for other names: Alex Garrett, ’19, Mr. Kind, Chris Hernandez, ’19, Mr. Funny, Dyllan Rivera, ’19, Mr. Smarts, and Jason Hruby, ’19, got Mr. Buff.
Ultimately, the boys had a fun week participating in lunch time activities and the Friday night Talent Show!
