Redwood boys cross country competed in WYL, and their results are outstanding. After a tough loss last year, they’ve gained back their title.
Pedro Mendez, ‘23, is a varsity member of the cross country team. He placed first with a 15:44 time in a three mile race. Mendez says, “It feels good to be a part of the team. Cross country is a really fun sport.” He goes on to say, “I feel like the team has a strong bond. We see each other all the time at school and at practice…” Not only does the team have a strong bond, but they have had an outstanding season so far. Mendez says, “It felt really good to win, because we actually lost last year, so it felt good to win that back.”
Hunter Skoglund, ‘25, is a freshman member of the cross country team. When asked about being a part of the team, Skoglund says, “It feels great. Everyone is very supportive of each other, and we all get along. He goes on to say, “We felt pretty good going into WYL, considering we won our first two.”
Skoglund goes on to explain what a day at practice looks like. “Everyone gets dressed out, we do our warm ups, then the coach usually has a different workout for us each day.”
The Redwood boys cross country team has definitely been putting in the work, and it has paid off.
