Pinterest is a social media platform that opens up doors to new information and ideas. It’s a great app for students and teachers to find inspiration and creativity.

Pinterest has something for everyone including; crafts, recipes, gifts, art, music, and fashion. Its format allows users to make boards of posts and projects they are interested in. Users can comment, share, and post about what they’ve tried. It also offers tips and tricks as well as entertainment media.

Ashley Solis-Martinez, ’24 says, “Pinterest is a wonderful app that can help people find inspiration for anything they want.” She continues describing how it’s “a great app for creative-minded people since it can give [them] many more ideas.”

Martinez has been using Pinterest for about three years and uses it pretty frequently in her day-to-day life. She thinks that it can be beneficial to everyone because it offers a wide range of subjects.

She mainly uses Pinterest for drawing and anatomy references. Some of her boards are art references, paintings, and other art inspiration.

Devon McWilliams, ‘24 has also been using Pinterest for a couple of years. She thinks Pinterest is great for those looking or are in need of new ideas.

McWilliams uses Pinterest art, room decor, and entertainment. She likes to look for crafts and projects that would be, “cool to [try] on that weekend,” she says.

McWilliams recommends that teachers and students use Pinterest. She says, “I used to have middle school teachers recommend Pinterest to students for activities and classroom decor.”

She also thinks that Pinterest’s purpose is to appeal to creative people and spread new information. She describes Pinterest as “sharing the creativity for everyone.”

Mila Bravo, ‘24 is another frequent user of Pinterest. She enjoys the organizational aspect of the app. She says, ”I feel like I benefit a lot from it… because I’m able to organize all my favorite ideas and stuff through the app.”

Bravo loves being able to organize her interests and save tips for later use. She explains, ”If I’m interested in a new hobby, I’m able to find tons of different things on it… Also, I have boards that are just for my entertainment. Overall, it’s really helpful and entertaining.”

She has boards dedicated to scrapbooking, cake decorating, recipes, clothing, self-care among a long list of others. She has also tried recipes and painting projects that Pinterest has inspired her to do.

She strongly recommends Pinterest because “It’s really helpful for everyday stuff or just things you’re interested in. It gives great ideas… plus, it’s a lot less toxic than other social media like Snapchat and Instagram because you just look at things you enjoy,” she says.
