Luke Mueller ‘24 is a student at Redwood High School who is a part of the Red Ink club.  Red Ink is a place where you can go and show your creative writing.

All teens find, enjoy, and then drop many hobbies.  Mueller brought in writing as just a hobby.  He started writing during quarantine as just a way to help get through the hard times.

Mueller says, “ Quarantine helped me get started with my writing but it was more of a way to just help me keep going through the hard times”.

After a while of just writing he found out he really did enjoy writing.  Now Mueller has been writing a book for almost two years.  “ By the end of Spring break it will be two years.”

“I do really enjoy writing because it’s a great way to express yourself in a way you just can’t say aloud.”, adds Mueller.  He enjoys writing not just for the joy of it but as a way to help himself.

There are so many different genres of writing but Mueller says, “ My book is a fictional piece set in the modern era.  It’s about four highschoolers trying to navigate not only highschool but this big quest that they have been put on.  Pretty much these four kids are the world’s last hopes.”

Mueller is writing this book based on his friends and the life around him in this fictional world; “The four main characters are actually based off of me and my friends.  It had started as just a hobby and it really turned into a bigger thing.”

Mueller adds, “ I never really thought I would get past page fifty and now I’m on page two hundred fifty”. Mueller really shows his life in this book and puts in real interactions him and his friends have had

Although this book is about four high school students, his targeted audience is; “ All ages because I want an elementary kid to pick this up and be like oh I can read this but then I want a high school kid to pick this up and say this is a good read. But if i’m being honest I would say people around middle school age would definitely enjoy this book”.

Mueller says “ I am definitely hoping to publish this book because it tells a story that should be shared with those who are willing to read.”
